MANILA, Philippines—Leylah Fernandez was named as one of many nominees for Most Improved Participant of the 12 months within the 2021 WTA Participant Awards.
The 19-year-old will compete for the award in opposition to Maria Sakkari, Barbora Krejcikova, Ons Jabeur, Anett Kontaveit, Paula Badosa, and Jessica Pegula.
Fernandez was born in Canada to a Filipino-Canadian mom and an Ecuadorian father.
